Moving away from food security, i wanted to touch base on everyday supplies. Examples are soap, toilet paper, cleaning products, tooth paste deoderant ect. Now when i say stock up i mean having enough to last you through and emergency or financial situation. Only you can determine how much you need for you and your family for a period of time. When i share with others what im doing i always get this look, but seeing people struggle to pay bills and cover basic needs with little money is heartbreaking and an eye opener. Most people are not prepared for a jobloss or emergency, living check to check with little or no savings. I have adopted the saying do what you can while you can. You just never know. Unemployment will only go so far if you even get it. This is just another thing for you and your family to not have to worry about. And even if you have a savings you don't want to dip into it unless you have to.
Ways to save money on your supplies are buying cheaper off brands, bogo sales, coupons, clearance sales and instore savings. I get most of our supplies at the dollar tree and it works for us. I can buy in bulk there any time to cover our basic needs without hurting my pockets. You can also do the same as starting your food storage, buy 1 item at a time. Also buy what you use and use what you buy, when you get to the point where you have enough of what you need, start to rotate and use what you have replacing what you use to keep your supply full. You can also do this for medicine and vitamins only get what you use. You don't want to buy things that you may need to get rid of later.
May this help anyone who reads this.
